What The Buck!

If it's good enough for the Daily News to use as a headline, it's good enough for my posting.

Cigarettes Can Kill You...Especially If You're A Big Black Guy

The infamous NYPD fatal chokehold has once again reared its murdering head.

Eric Garner, suspected of selling untaxed cigarettes, died after being confronted by the NYPD in Staten Island. He was put in a chokehold and wrestled to the ground, all the while, exclaiming, "I can't breathe!"

Apparently, this is the notification for officers to pile upon more forcefully, as his cries went unheeded...at least, until he became non-responsive.

Contrast the above with the story of the arrest of the Midtown Puncher, Corey Pohan:

Door R3 on car #9719 had failed.

This is on the newest version of the MTA IND/BMT trains. I happen to like these trains because of the large door sizes and the number of doors available. The former trains had larger cars, but less doors because of them.

Lawsuit Takes on NYPD Press Credential Policy

The New York Police Department’s system for issuing annual press credentials to journalists is unconstitutional and arbitrary, a federal lawsuit filed Nov. 12 alleges.

OPEN LETTER TO PBA PRESIDENT PATRICK J. LYNCH

I am writing to request your immediate attention to New York City’s harsh and unjust treatment of retired New York City Police Office Harold Gregory who met with me today after the City’s Housing Marshal appeared at his door to evict him.

When retired Police Officer Gregory came to my office months ago to prevent this injustice not only to him, but to all retired police officers who have resided in Housing Authority buildings, I immediately contacted Housing Authority’s Chair, Tino Hernandez, to have the matter addressed and to enact policies that will protect our retired police officers from eviction under current City policies.
